Homer and Langley's Mystery Spot

The Mystery Spot is now open for the season!

We've spent the winter hibernating and hoarding all sorts of delectable vintage acorns which we've brought into the shop for your vintage delight! Hand-picked vintage clothing, thousands of records (LPs and yes, finally, we dug out the 45's!), unusual art & antiquarian books, mid-century lamps, 40's kitchenware, 50's pottery, Rusticalia, etc. As always, great prices and friendly service in our new, expanded, seven rooms-packed-to-the-ceiling Vintage Wonderland right on Phoenicia's Main Street.

about that motherlode of vintage vinyl....

You can now add "used record shop" to the many offerings to be found here at the Mystery Spot.

Earlier this year we acquired a staggering collection of vintage vinyl - over 15,000 records and countless 45's. Jazz, rock, country, comedy, psych, blues, lounge, exotica, risque, funk, spoken word, Northern Soul....you name it! Our little elves have been hard at work all winter digging through the boxes in order to hand pick the best and most unusual of the bunch to bring into the shop. The keepers go straight to the new, custom-built record room. The others go outside in the dollar bins. The project is endless, so our promise to you, dear customer, is that we will bring in at least one new carton of records every week during the entire summer!

***************************

The Mothership has landed. We've moved to 72 Main Street, and the entire Village of Phoenicia celebrated by throwing us a parade! (OK, the parade wasn't really for us, per se, but we loved seeing our neighbors parading so proudly past our front door).

Opening weekend was a great success - tons of neighbors, friends and customers came out to welcome us to our new home on Main Street (conveniently located next door to the Ice Cream Station!). The place was packed all weekend long as vintage merch flew off the shelves and racks. The Dollar Record bins on the porch have proven to be a big hit.

Everyone asked the same question: HOW DID YOU DO IT? How did we manage to move the entire contents of the old Mystery Spot into this new (and roomier) spot?

Here's your answer:

Our friends James and Marx. Two men, one truck. What would we have done without them?

Another helper who went above and beyond was our good friend Balthazar, who made signs for the Yard Sale in a Box:

and helped scrub out our display pieces while his mom Althea worked on her manicure:

Other members of the team chipped in with that good old small-town spirit as well. Our buddy Marc Rubin built us the perfect set of custom-made record display bins (so we'd have somewhere classy to display the 15,000 records we've got in storage):

and David "Homer" Goldin risked life and limb harrassing the starlings nesting in the eaves:

So there you have it! We're open for business once again. Weekends in June, Friday - Monday (probably more) in July and August, then back to weekends sometime in the fall. But our schedule is quite flexible, so if you're coming a long distance to make the trip, feel free to contact us in advance.

We've moved!

Mystery Spot Antiques is re-opening for its eighth season at a NEW location on Main Street and we're celebrating with a
20% off preview sale this Memorial Day Weekend!

We've moved a few doors down to roomier digs at
72 Main Street in Phoenicia (the old 1800's Gormley Hotel/former video store, between the Ice Cream Station and the Sportsman's Alamo).

The Catskills' obsessive "Shrine to Clutter" has expanded to seven rooms packed to the rafters with unusual antiques and found objects; men's, women's and children's vintage clothing; mid-century home furnishings and lighting; 1,000's of used records (from a recent estate purchase of over 15,000 LPs, which we're still sorting through); and oddities such as Desdemona, the Devil Girl of Phoenicia and Petey the Petrified Piranha.

We're still in the process of unpacking boxes and bringing in treasures we picked up all winter long, but please come on by for a sneak peek and 20% off preview sale all weekend! We'll be bringing in new items every week all summer and fall, so check back often.

Look for an official celebration/party sometime in July, and live music all summer. Heck, even when we're not open you're welcome to dig through our dollar record bins and our famous Yard Sale in a Box on the front porch, with an honor box/money drop at your service.
